Rasmus' line is officially respectable

Colby's up to .264/.326/.529. Its like clockwork with him. A month to adjust and then he goes off.

Yup...... it's pretty much been a replay of last year for him, only at a higher level. He's not disappointing at all, in my opinion.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Springfield closer Chris Perez has been electric. He struck out 3 in 1.1 innings tonight, and he hasn't allowed a run OR a hit since April 10 (which encompasses his last 7 appearances). He's struck out 11 batters in 7.1 innings during that span.

This guy could be a lights-out closer, as soon as sometime next year, if he stays on track.

Supposedly in his last start Ottavino was hitting mis 90's and topped out at 98. He and Garcia are both averaging over 10 K's per 9.

Where did these reports come from? I'd like to read them. Do you know what Garcia's been sitting at in Springfield? Supposedly he was mid 90's in Spring training.

Double-A Springfield's Colby Rasmus went 4-for-7 and homered in both games of Thursday's doubleheader.

Maybe he's ready for Double-A after all. Rasmus has 10 hits in his last five games, upping is average 70 points to .273. He's also showing plenty of power with four homers, a triple and nine doubles in 23 games. Rasmus had the same number of extra-base hits in 53 games at Single-A Palm Beach last year.

Rasmus' current line:

.269 .346 .527 .873
4 HR, 10 dbles, 9 BB's, and 4 sb's in 93 ab's.

Even after having a rough April, his OBP and Slug% are still terrific. This kid is a very good all around talent. Some of those doubles could easily turn into HR's. He's still looking like the 20+ hr, 20 steals, 30+ dbles, 800+ OPS CF'er that we project him to be.

Just as a comparison here's Rasmus' projections alongside Aaron Rowand's AA season and Grady Sizemore's AA season:

Sizemore: .304/.373/.480, 13 HR, 10 sb's, 26 dbles, 46 bb's in 496 ab's (11 triples, which accounts for his good slug%)
Rowand: .258/.321/.438, 20 HR, 22 sb's, 26 dbles, 38 bb's in 532 ab's
Rasmus: .269/.346/.527, 22 HR, 22 sb's, 55 dbles, 50 bb's in 512 ab's (5.5 x his current stats)

You can't really read much into these, but I thought it would be a nice comparison to show Colby side-by-side next to a quality CF'er in Rowand and a budding superstar in Sizemore.

I would like to see Rasmus' ba climb, but that's the stat I care the least about. Everything else about his stats are better than I expected, with OBP being the lone exception. It will rise with his BA.

I would expect Colby to end up somewhere where those projections show him. Significantly better than Rowand. Not quite as good as Sizemore.
