There is a really good 1st basemen at each level of the system. Tagg Bozied at Memphis, Joe Mather at Springfield, Mark Hamilton at Palm Beach, and Brandon Buckman at Quad Cities. Of course, Bozied is just quad-A depth, but I don't see how any of them can move up this year unless someone gets injured.

I would rather them all stay at the level they are now than have one of them get injured.New Pagodi wrote:There is a really good 1st basemen at each level of the system. Re: Mark Hamilton
Not to mention, he homered in the two previous games, as well. He has 7 hits, 5 homers and 10 RBI's in his last three games.jdk82 wrote:He went 3-4 with 3HRs 6RBIs and a walk today

Rereading what I wrote, that was a bad way to put that. I didn't mean to imply I wanted someone to get injured.jdk82 wrote:I would rather them all stay at the level they are now than have one of them get injured.New Pagodi wrote:There is a really good 1st basemen at each level of the system. I understood what you meant, I knew you didnt want them to get hurt. I would like to see them move up I just dont want it to be because someone got injured.New Pagodi wrote:Rereading what I wrote, that was a bad way to put that. I hate to say it, but 1st baseman in our system are great trade peices. Unless they can make the move across the infield to 3rd, or head out to the OF, they are the guys that will bring us our next middle infielders, pitchers, etc. through trades.
I'm familiar with most of them as hitters, but what about defensively? Any of them have the athleticism to move to the OF or to 3rd? Mather seems like he would be a good candidate for a switch to 3rd.

From the player development perspective, that's the obvious move. But from the "they have to see tickets for the Memphis games somehow" perspective, it's a very risky move to make.greenback44 wrote:Isn't the obvious solution to release Bozied and let everybody move up a spot? This could be more of an issue after the draft.
