Good Deal?

I already proposed this and it has been accepted. The guy wanted a two for 1 so I figured I'd make an offer.

I get - BJ Upton and Brad Penny
I give - John Smoltz

I've got Kinsler and Cabrera manning second third and thome for the util spot, but if nothing other than a great backup (especially for one of those three on off days or slumps) I pick up a great trading chip in Upton, and Penny has pitched well, though not as good as Smoltz. But I've got Felix hernandez, Roger Clemens, Main Cain and Noah Lowry, and Hughes

After reading that...I'm startin to kick myself.

I think it's an all right deal, I just wonder what you're going to do with Upton with what you already have.

You could always platoon him and Kinsler, as both those guys will likely have ups and downs this year. Combined, though, they'll be a top 3 2B.

I'd love to move one of them with an OFer (Vernon Wells, Delmon Young, Hunter Pence, Matsui, Byrnes and Pierre) for a decent SPer

Depending on how deep your league is, I might have preferred being on the other side of that trade. And Upton Ks a lot, so if your league counts that, beware!

If anything, I'd be shopping Clemens (if possible). I just don't have a good vibe about him this season, and I have him on one of my teams.
