Memphis had the night off.

Springfield lost 8-6 to the Tulsa Drillers. They tried to rally in the ninth and scored 2 runs and had more 2 runners on, but ultimately came up short. Cory Rauschenberger gave up 7 runs (5 earned) over 4 innings. He had really struggled early in the year but seemed to be coming around lately, so the start tonight was very disappointing. Nick Webber gave up 1 run over 2 innings with 2 strikeouts. Matt Scherer pitched a scoreless inning and a third. Sean Danielson went 3 for 5 with a double. Colby Rasmus had a rough night and went 1 for 5 with 4 strikeouts. Joe Mather went 2 for 4 with a homerun. Mark Shorey had his first AA homerun. Box Log

Palm Beach lost 8-3 to the Tampa Yankees. Trey Hearne gave up 6 runs over 6 innings. Hearne was very good last year, but here’s what he’s done in his starts since this May.

I hope he turns things around, but he would be the obvious pitcher to be replaced if the Cardinals really want to move someone up from Quad Cities. Mark Hamilton went 2 for 4 with a double and another homer. Brandon Yarbrough was also 2 for 4. Box Log

Quad Cities also had the night off.
