I'm the one that pointed out the carries, and there is no debate about age.
Yards per carry, which is by far the best way to evaluate a running back
How is this possible? How much of that has to do with O-line and defenses faced?

I don't think McGahee is that good. In his second and third full-time years in the NFL, which should be among his best I would assume, he has basically been slightly more productive than Jamal Lewis has been (according to you, terrible) with less touchdowns. At least Lewis is talented and has done it before.
McGahee isn't talented? Spare me. What about Lewis do you see as talented? Like I said before, Jamal was good, and is useless now. It's hard to debate that Jamal is better now than Willis. The only way to tell if Willis will excel under a better O-Line is to watch him this season. He will have season highs in all stat categories.

Who's saying that Lewis is better now than McGahee? The crux of this whole thing is whether McGahee will be an improvement, and as an aside I questioned whether or not even now that there's a noticeable difference.

Let's forget about the talented part since that's so subjective. Instead, I'll say: "At least Lewis has done it before."

As far as the Broncos are concerned...: :deadhorse: It has come to my attention that the preceeding emoticon is actual training camp footage of former Ram and new Bronco Jimmy Kennedy. =D>

Lewis has had some amazing season. (Remember that like 300 yard game or whatever he had to set the NFL record?), but he isn't any good anymore.
I know running backs don't have a great shelf-life, but why do you say he isn't good anymore? He's 28 and here is his career so far:

Code: Select all

                 +--------------------------+-------------------------+
                 | Rushing | Receiving |

| 2002 bal | 16 | 308 1327 4.3 6 | 47 442 9.4 1 |

| 2004 bal | 12 | 235 1006 4.3 7 | 10 116 11.6 0 |

Then you dismiss out of hand that he could be nearly as good as this dude (OK, there's the part about coming from a bad blocking team, however #19 and #26 doesn't sound like that big of a deal. You also say he's five years younger when it's more like 26 months):

Code: Select all

                 +--------------------------+-------------------------+
                 | Rushing | Receiving |
+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+

+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+

| 2005 buf | 16 | 325 1247 3.8 5 | 28 178 6.4 0 |
| 2006 buf | 14 | 259 990 3.8 6 | 18 156 8.7 0 |
+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+
| TOTAL | 46 | 868 3365 3.9 24 | 68 503 7.4 0 |
+----------+-----+--------------------------+-------------------------+
I don't really follow the NFL, and no one seems to answer my questions in this thread. So what's so telling here besides the fact that McGahee is 2 years younger. The three seasons worth of attempts?
The prevailing rumor about Jamal Lewis is that he's gotten a bit "soft" since his prison stint and injuries. That he just doesn't play with the same drive and determiniation--being perfectly willing to go down after decent contact, rather than fighting through it and getting those extra yards.

The NFL is a tough league, where the difference in talent between most players is negligible. You have the smallest slip in tenacity, and it will show up on the field.

This is very true. Jamal Lewis used to be just a BEAST. Ever since the year he got out of prison, he doesn't seem as tough. He seems like a slow version of Edgerine James. Bust through the line, look for a hole and get tripped up. He doesn't seem to have the big runs where he would break 11 tackles like he used to. Watching this guy was just brutal when he was supposed to be my fantasy "sleeper."

I can't wait to bring this thread back up when the Rams are putting up 50 against the Colts in the SB. I'm going to say. "Cabby, 22, huh." Then Cabby's going to be like. " " Then we're all going to. " "

Just wait, Feb 4, 08. :D

Is that when the SB is this year? I know it changes constantly.

It's either Jan 27th or Feb 3rd. It's in Arizona this year, so you better bet lazypenguin and I will be back in attendance again this year if the Colts are back in it :-)
