That $7M number for '08 is just a guess. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I don't think there's any way to know that he made $186K a start this year. He could've made a million of his incentives for stepping on the mound the first time, or perhaps they didn't kick in until he made six starts, so I just prorated it.
I figured that lumping all of the options together was the best way to do it, at least for a more long-term look anyway. It would take a second page or get pretty messy to individualize all of that stuff as best as I can tell.

(Please tell me it's NOT Boras!)
I think AW will be arb eligible after the '08 season, but he won't get a big raise then. We have him for 4 more years before he's a FA. He'll get good money in year 5 & 6, which would be '10 and '11. More than likely they'll sign him to a contract that will carry him through his arb years next winter or after '09.

I think we're stuck with Rolen:
2006 Runs Created - 101
2007 Runs Created - 51
Let's take a look at one more area that can be improved on offense without spending more money. Kennedy...
2006 Runs Created - 55
2007 Runs Created - 22
How many more wins does 73 runs translate to? Is it 4 or 5 runs to a win? I mean I could see 75 runs meaning at least another 10 wins...which does win us the central.

I assume this means we'll be paying the buyout, barring a Cy Young type season from MM in '08.
Pineiro didn't reach enough of his incentives to have the option kick in so he's just a regular old free agent.
I thought reaching the incentives (for games finished) meant it would change from a mutual option to a player option. Not eliminate the option altogether.
So if Kennedy and Rolen play to more than reasonable numbers we win 7 more games? That would put as 86 and an NL Central Title? Carp adds what? 2-3 wins? We'da been damn close to 90 games - not bad.
