Mizzou @ Colorado

After the first quarter, Colorado is up 10-7. On MU's first possession there was a pass deflected that was picked off and CU started from the 11 yard line and scored a TD. MU answered back with a lightning quick 80 yard drive, mostly on a 76 yard pass to Franklin. MU later had a punt blocked and CU again had a short field, tacking on a field goal to get the score to where it is right now.

Mizzou looks really out of sorts. There have been a LOT of drops. Rucker has dropped like 3 passes already. They've picked up some stupid penalties as well (tackling the punt returner before he catches it and such). They should be glad to only be down 3 considering how much help they've given the Buffaloes.

CU, which usually plays a lot of man to man, has gone heavily to the zone and only rushed 3 linemen. I think this has messed with MU's gameplan for the beginning of the game. Mizzou just recovered a fumble on the first play of the second quarter, so this could shift the momentum in their favor.

The Tigers really need a win here to break the November curse, and because Kansas HUMILIATED Nebraska 76-39 IN Lincoln.

Yep, I think Mizzou is starting to figure out the defensive game plan. On 3rd and 4 after the fumble recovery, CU rushed 3 lineman and dropped the rest into zone. Daniel found Maclin deep for a long touchdown.

Tigers 14, Buffaloes 10

LET'S GO TIGERS!

Mizzou holds CU after scoring the TD.

Daniel has a big pass to Perry to get the Tigers down to the 6, but after a short loss, a well-defended option pass and a dump-off pass, the Tigers offense ended up kicking a FG from the 10 yard line. Tigers 17, Buffaloes 10.

Mizzou is getting in a bit of a rhythm, and CU is finding it tougher to score when they start in their own territory.

Mizzou defense again stops the Colorado offense.

On the ensuing possession, Franklin makes another impressive, long catch and Tony Temple runs it in for another Tiger touchdown. Tigers have scored 17 unanswered points and now lead 24-10.

Mizzou is bringing HEAVY blitz/pressure on Hawkins, and the defense forces a 3 and out from Colorado. On the punt, Colorado picks up it's SECOND "interfering with the catch" penalty of the game. Mizzou gets the ball on their own 40 as a result.

Chase Daniel is AMAZING. He gets flushed out of the pocket, scrambles to his right and gets a bit of space between him and the chasing defenders, and finds Coffman sitting in the pocket of the zone in the middle of the field. He gets across the yellow line for a first down, evades 3 attempts at arm tackles and rumbles 20 more yards into the end zone for seven more. Tigers have now scored 24 straight points, and take a 31-10 lead with a minute and a half left in the first half.

After an off-kilter first quarter, the Tigers offense has started to pick apart the Colorado defense. The Tiger defense has also been dominant in the second quarter, putting a lot of pressure on Hawkins.

Colorado has another 3 and out, and Mizzou gets the ball back with 1 second left in the half. Daniel takes a knee to end the first half, and the Tigers hit the locker room with a 21-point lead.

Telling stat of the second quarter is the Total Offense for each team in the second 15 minutes:
Missouri--250 yards
Colorado--16 yards

So far in the 3rd quarter, it has been:

CU 3 and out
MU 3 and out
CU 3 and out

Then Tigers get the ball at midfiend and Daniel engineers another TD drive. Coffman makes a nice catch, gets away from 2 tacklers, hurdles a third, and backs into the end zone. Tigers are up 38-10 with 6 minutes gone in the second half.

The Tigers defense has now forced Colorado into SIX straight 3 and outs. The defense is really stepping up right now.

Go Tigers!
