Pop up ads for Performance Optimizer

I was browsing earlier, and my window shrunk suddenly and popped up with this message:

"NOTICE:Errors in your PC can cause data loss......"

Then a Cancel or Okay button. They just take you to a web page for Performance Optimizer which apparently helps you reduce spyware and Spam. What irony.

I checked around and this has happened on a few other forums, so I'm guessing it's associated with the ads or something else GRB is referencing. Anyone else?
