When I read Money magazine and they profile couple who are 26 and 27 years old with 150k in savings/investments, I feel woefully inadequate.

This brings me to question how long we'll all be hanging around this message board supporting each other through our trials and tribulations. I'm wondering if you'll still be around in 20 yrs. or so to make up for any shortcomings if I throw all caution to the wind. I'm going to be here, Leroy, are you?

WTF? They must have gotten that money from parents.

You know all those closed down factories all over St. Louis? The Cadillac factory in the 50's closes down and people who thought they could retire, can't and work til they die. The manufacturing plants that are closed down all over St. Louis? They closed a ton of them in the 90's and people who thought they had a retirement don't. That combined with all the people around that time that thought they had millions of dollars in stock options....

Those 26 or 27 year olds don't have anything until it is time to collect that money. (Unless they seriously have it in savings - in which case I have to assume they had "help" and therefore you shouldn't feel inadequate.)

Yep. It took nine years, but I finally figured out what a book was.

Me too. But once I got that learning, I was like an unstoppable intellectual force. A lot like that guy in With Honers.
