I had just heard of a thing called high school at 27. But I suspect that book learning was a good thing.sighyoung wrote:I wasn't even finished with grad school when I was 27. I think I'll be here then, and by then I may understand what OPS means. Ok, maybe not understand it, but maybe care.planet pujolsian wrote:This brings me to question how long we'll all be hanging around this message board supporting each other through our trials and tribulations. I'm wondering if you'll still be around in 20 yrs. or so to make up for any shortcomings if I throw all caution to the wind. I'm going to be here, Leroy, are you?Leroy wrote:Screw them. Yep. It took nine years, but I finally figured out what a book was.Leroy wrote:I had just heard of a thing called high school at 27. Re: Are we headed for a recession?
You know all those closed down factories all over St. Louis? The Cadillac factory in the 50's closes down and people who thought they could retire, can't and work til they die. The manufacturing plants that are closed down all over St. Louis? They closed a ton of them in the 90's and people who thought they had a retirement don't. That combined with all the people around that time that thought they had millions of dollars in stock options....
Those 26 or 27 year olds don't have anything until it is time to collect that money. (Unless they seriously have it in savings - in which case I have to assume they had "help" and therefore you shouldn't feel inadequate.)

Just in case anyone is worried - I assure you Leroy will be banned within the next 20 years. The mods and I are working on it.

Me too. But once I got that learning, I was like an unstoppable intellectual force. A lot like that guy in With Honers.sighyoung wrote:Yep. Maybe I should start my own pyramid scheme.
I've been reading up on Charles Ponzi and Ivar Kreuger. When I figure it out, I'll let you all in on the ground floor, o.k.?

By the way, your Christmas present to me was not funny, and it died on the way.
