GDT: ST 2/29 - Cardinals at Mets

Post by rs232 »

Today's starting lineup and other notes from D. Goold
1. Brian Barton, CF
2. Chris Duncan, LF
3. Albert Pujols, 1B
4. Troy Glaus, 3B
5. Juan Gonzalez, DH
6. Ryan Ludwick, RF
7. Yadier Molina, C
8. Aaron Miles, 2B
9. Brendan Ryan, SS
I'm still having trouble accepting the reality that Santana pitches for the Pond Scum...

GO CARDINALS!

Wow, Duncan starts against arguably the toughest lefty in the game. Go yard Baby Dunc!

Every time I see Juan Gone's name in the lineup I die a little.

I really, really like the fact that Tony plans on giving Duncan and Ankiel at bats against lefties. I wish it would continue into the regular season, though.

I look at it as more of an opportunity to fail than to succeed.

Exactly. Get that sample size as big as possible. I don't want a fluky 30 or so ab's.

I don't know, if Skip gets some playing time, he could very well bat .750.

I'm not worried about Juan, he'll pull a hammy in the next 2 months.

I wish they could trade for draft picks in baseball. If that were true, I'd love to see Gonzalez make the club and be an amazing hitter for a month or two. Then, have the Cards trade him for a second or third round pick. But, can't happen. So, unless he's going to hit 30 HR and drive in 100, I don't want him on the team.

On a similar note of how we fare against lefty pitching, one of the things I really liked about acquiring Troy Glaus is that he does rather well against lefties. No more of this "Joe Schmo from minor leagues makes his first career start in the majors shuts down Cardinals for 8 innings because he throws with his left hand" stuff, or at least a little less than in the past I hope.
