cry havoc, let fly the DOGS OF LOVE!

Post by StatmanCrothers »

Drafted my team, THE DOGS OF LOVE, on Saturday in a live draft online. Fun stuff.

My calculations show SP is over-valued in our point system so i went heavy on the SP early. Filled the scarce positions C,SS,3B,2B and then went for 1B OF leftovers where the talent is deeper.

1. SP Johan Santana
24. C,1B Victor Martinez
25. SP Brandon Webb
48. 3B Garrett Atkins
49. SP Daisuke Matsuzaka
72. SS Miguel Tejada
73. SP Fausto Carmona
96. SP Adam Wainwright
97. SP Felix Hernandez
120. 2B Dustin Pedroia
121. RP Jason Isringhausen
144 1B,OF Nick Swisher
145 SP Chad Billingsley
168 1B Kevin Youkilis
169 DH Frank Thomas
192 OF J.D. Drew
193 OF Michael Cuddyer
216 2B,3B Ty Wiggington
217 RP Brian Wilson
240 OF Austin Kearns
241 C AJ Pierzynski
264 SS David Eckstein
265 RP-SP Carlos Villanueva
288 SP Braden Looper
289 OF Mark Teahen

Depth Chart

i guess telling about your fantasy team is like telling about a dream you had--its mostly way more interesting to you than anyone else.

anybody see any problem spots here? players i don't realize are injured or relegated to the bench or something?

You really have a great staff. I am surprised you took Wainwright before Felix, but you got both, so it worked out really well. You may have some weeks where you are going to get you pick of matchups with your starters so that is great. You are a little weak at RP, but again if you point system does not compensate relievers well then it isnt an issue.

not a whole lot of power/mashers in the lineup, but if the points all work out that should be fine.

Yeah, actually i took Felix and Adam together. I had consecutive picks so it didn't really matter what order i took them. there were a lot of Cardinal fans in the league i'm in so i took Wainwright just a bit early. same with Izzy. In this league we can set our lineups each day so i can be pretty sure i'll get 8 starts out of my staff unless the stars align and i have no 2-start pitchers and all my starters are scheduled on the same day. i have by far the best starting pitching so i think that will compensate for my weakish hitting. Also, there are always unexpected players that step up so I figure I can pick up some of those with little opportunity cost.
