You should compare and contrast with aerial images subdivisions vs. "the city". I just compared St. Peters to my neighborhood, and we have far more trees.

If you have kids suburbs have one quality that can just about trump anything ... schools. At least the academic side, I now have a kid who is a Senior in college (jeez that's spooky) who I can now see was extremely well prepared in HS, even though I wondered if he was getting anything out of it. He says the majority of his friends are doing better at college - good colleges -than they did at HS. He said he's seen several honor students at their HS that can hardly hack the curriculum at college.

But then again, with the taxes I pay they better be good schools. Once son #2 is done we are out of there, the taxes are unreal.

Yeah, again it depends on the city. I wouldn't live in a subdivision like that.

Newtown in St. Charles seems like an interesting concept (something you're seeing more and more of). Anyone know how it's doing?

You're gonna eventually run out of places to live then.
I know of a place or two that are Starbucks proof.

There isnt one closer than prob. 5 miles for me.
The nearest one to me--is 60 miles away...and I hope it stays that way :)

My favorite fly fishing other once said that you can tell a place is going right down the crapper when you see a Starbucks going up. Ever since I read that I noticed it was true.

That doesn't seem much better than a modern subdivision. If I did something like that, I'd at least like to see some more modern architecture.

According to Starbucks' website, there are 27 stores within 5 miles of my house.
