The thought of being scorned for having the 'wrong' scooter makes me giggle.

It's like pulling up in a Honda to a bunch of rough characters on Harleys.

Only the hipsters won't physically assault you. They'll just verbally mock you. Which may be worse.

But I don't want a motorcycle. I want a scooter.
Razor has a nice line of scooters.

I liked the one that was posted in the other thread, the Aprilla or something like that. It was much more sporty looking.

edit : this one...

I don't do sporty. I do vintage. (Hence the hipster stuff.)
Update time.

I finally made the scooter purchase, and ended up going with neither the Stella nor the vintage Vespa. Why do I quote the above? Not because I got that bike, but I did end up going with an Aprilia. I present to you the Aprilia Mojito 150.

It eventually came down to a few factors vs. the Stella. One was the automatic vs. manual transmission. Manuals are great, but after a while they become cumbersome to constantly shift up and down. Next was the emissions. As you may or may not know, while scooters and motorcycles are extremly fuel efficient, they emit tons of CO2 and NOx because they don't have a catalytic converter. But the Aprilia's at least have an advanced exhaust system that drastically cuts down on emissions. Last was the price--$600 cheaper out the door. That's fairly significant considering you're getting nearly identical specs.

It doesn't come without drawbacks. Storage is a bit of an issue. The glove box is tiny--basically just enough room to stick your sunglasses and the owner's manual. The under seat storage is just enough to hold a half helmet, which is about all I really need it for. But to add a rack is tough, because of the shape of the bike. Aprilia makes one, but it's not very large, and nearly impossible to get because their parts department is in Italy, and notoriously non-responsive. That will also be an issue if it ever needs any major repair.

Anyway, that's that. Dilemma solved. The style probably fits me better anyway (since I'm somewhere between a hipster and a metro). I love the chrome handlebars. Gives it a real cruiser feel.

Man I really like that one. Its inbetween the sporty one that you quoted me on and the ones you were looking at. Very cool.

For some reason, Aprilia has stopped making it now. 2007 is the last model year. Mine is still new--the folks at Extreme Toy Store bought up like 20 of them before Aprilia pulled the plug. They had 6 left early last week. They had 2 left on Saturday, with a woman in the store interested in the last black one (they also make white/black two-tone).

I think they're focusing more on their sportier looking scooters and their more powerful Scarabeo line (up to 500cc), since Piaggio (Vespa) owns them now and they probably figure to let Vespa handle the more vintage stuff.

Sounds like you got one just in time then. Like I said, that's a VERY cool looking scooter.

Mojito?! Are you going to tell chicks you're riding a Mojito if they ask, or will you make up some other name?

Seriously though, that's a sweet looking ride. I'm honestly jealous.
