I've seen Additon pitch twice this year. In my games he gave up 12 runs in 4.2 innings. In his other 12 games he's given up 5 runs in 50 innings. The results were bad and his stuff looked Narveson-like when I saw him, so I don't know how he's been effective, although I'm guessing his curve is too good for the Midwest League.
Mark Diapoules gave up four runs (all unearned) on four hits and a walk in four innings. He struck out six.
I was wondering about that. Here's the description from the gamelog:
* Juan Diaz singles on a line drive to left fielder Matthew Arburr.
* With Edilio Colina batting, Juan Diaz steals (1) 2nd base, . Juan Diaz advances to 3rd, on throwing error by catcher Paul Vazquez.
* Edilio Colina strikes out swinging, catcher Paul Vazquez to first baseman Osvaldo Morales.
* Ronald Garth reaches on a fielder's choice, fielded by third baseman Domnit Bolivar. Juan Diaz scores.
* Joseph Dunigan strikes out swinging.
* Gavin Dickey doubles (12) on a fly ball to left fielder Matthew Arburr. Ronald Garth scores.
* Denny Almonte singles on a line drive to center fielder Thomas Pham. Gavin Dickey scores.
* Calvin Beamon triples (5) on a fly ball to center fielder Thomas Pham. Denny Almonte scores.
* Israel Nunez flies out to left fielder Matthew Arburr.
I guess the first one was unearned since Juan Diaz wouldn't have scored on the ball hit by Ronald Garth if not for the throwing error, but why are the other 3 unearned. I'm not trying to put down Diapoules who might be a sleeper now now that he's healthy, I've just never been completely clear on the earned/unearned run thing.
And I'm all for promoting Additon to Palm Beach to keep him away from greenback.
