Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
btw, no one should be offended by me, I just like to rant and being laid-off blows...
I'm trying to work on the 'attract more bees with honey' thing but it's a slow-going process
it's just hard in this country right now when most of your views are independent and we only have a 2 party system...one can become very irritable when their vote really doesn't mean much...
it probably would have been better for all parties involved if I just stuck to the baseball threads...

I don't know that that's so much it with Paul. Most people couldn't even tell you who he was.tenniseleven wrote:true, true BW...only because most Republicans are not truly politically conservative...they love having government in their home-lives...
I wanted Fred. He was the guy I most closely related to, but he ran a horrible campaign. Horrible.

Yea, I started out pulling for Ron Paul and Giuliani. You're right that nobody knows of Ron Paul. And Giuliani ran a pretty pitiful campaign, but I think we'll see him make another attempt in 4 years.BW23 wrote:I don't know that that's so much it with Paul. I don't understand how not supporting people using condoms and birth control, EVEN WHEN THEY'RE MARRIED, is forcing them to be responsible. How does that make sense? Isn't it more responsible to actually protect yourself by using a condom or the pill or some other form of BC if you don't want to have a child, so you don't have to resort to having an abortion?BW23 wrote:I was talking about actions in general. I know it was used in reference to sexual activity, but I'm guessing it's that way with everything. Then again, that's basically what many Republicans believe in....personal responsibility.clement wrote:On the contrary. In most people's minds, using protection or learning about different birth control options to avoid unwanted or unplanned pregnancies is behaving responsibly. Shocking.
That won't sit well with Democrats.
I'm personally anti-abortion. I just don't think it should be criminalized, therefore I'm pro-choice. And even among most people who put themselves in the pro-life camp, things like using condoms and having access to information about different birth control options are not perceived as bad things.
I guess people just aren't ever supposed to have sex unless they mean to procreate and should sleep in opposite beds a la I Love Lucy.

DAD:
There are Jews in the world.
There are Buddhists.
There are Hindus and Mormons, and then
There are those that follow Mohammed, but
I've never been one of them.
I'm a Roman Catholic,
And have been since before I was born,
And the one thing they say about Catholics is:
They'll take you as soon as you're warm.
You don't have to be a six-footer.
You don't have to have a great brain.
You don't have to have any clothes on. You're
A Catholic the moment Dad came,
Because
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
CHILDREN:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate.
GIRL:
Let the heathen spill theirs
On the dusty ground.
God shall make them pay for
Each sperm that can't be found.
CHILDREN:
Every sperm is wanted.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.
MUM:
Hindu, Taoist, Mormon,
Spill theirs just anywhere,
But God loves those who treat their
Semen with more care.
MEN:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
WOMEN:
If a sperm is wasted,...
CHILDREN:
...God get quite irate.
PRIEST:
Every sperm is sacred.
BRIDE and GROOM:
Every sperm is good.
NANNIES:
Every sperm is needed...
CARDINALS:
...In your neighbourhood!
CHILDREN:
Every sperm is useful.
Every sperm is fine.
FUNERAL CORTEGE:
God needs everybody's.
MOURNER #1:
Mine!
MOURNER #2:
And mine!
CORPSE:
And mine!
NUN:
Let the Pagan spill theirs
O'er mountain, hill, and plain.
HOLY STATUES:
God shall strike them down for
Each sperm that's spilt in vain.
EVERYONE:
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is good.
Every sperm is needed
In your neighbourhood.
Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite iraaaaaate!

Nevermind. I know the answer.
As to your latest response, you might want to cool down. Just because she believes all of that doesn't mean anything. There's a lot of people that believe that way based on their religion.
Or are you trying to say she can't believe a certain thing because of religious reasons. Because I think that's a violation of the First Amendment.
