Out of curiosity, do you also believe that birth control is a form of baby-killing?
No. The egg has not been fertilized yet, but one it is, I believe it is life. That is my belief, I am not saying it has to be your belief, I am not asking you to change yours, don't ask me to change mine.
I didn't ask you to change your belief.
That doesn't sound like a moral stance though, it sounds like a scientific one.
ya, I wish the abortion issue could just be let go in politics at this point...
Republican candidates like to use it as a talking point, knowing that they have no power to overturn RvW...it gets votes, but just look at GWB (who used it to get elected to his first term) and how he did absolutely nothing about abortion in 8 years....
and I also know that Liberals use it in the exact opposite way, but generally only b/c the Evangelical Right (a group that has a ton of power) would like to change policy in regards to abortion....
It's a State's Rights issue, as most should be in the UNITED STATES of America...lest we forget...
let's talk about the issues that really matter in this election...the Economy, taxes and Foreign Relations...if we keep the same foreign relations attitude that we have right now then we're just going to be creating a whole new generation of Afghanis, Iraqis and etc that hate America and we'll be too thin in the Middle East to confront Russia like we seem to be wanting to do...
that's the big issue, even though I know a lot of people on the right don't care how we look in the eyes of the World...
also, lets not forget education, as our public educational system is disgusting at this point (look at an extreme case of St Louis for example)...I'm not even sure public institutions work anymore, on the elementary or collegiate level...

Doesn't mean anything to me... but not sure how the evangelical supporters will react.
And the current VP has a lesbian daughter. How did that hurt those two elections? You had that plus an idiot running for president and they still won twice.
if you're against Abortion then move to a state that doesn't allow abortions...
same for most drugs and gambling and smoking in public, same for same-sex marriage...etc, etc...
It's complicated, but it's simple at the same time...
we already do it in a way with local laws (like dry counties and areas that ban smoking almost altogether...just don't live there if you like to drink and have a cig...duh)
government cannot work on a large scale, I think we're proving that right now...and our founding fathers already knew that when they created the United States, of America....
I guess people are afraid of being the EU or something, though...not sure...

look at most of the types of people from SC, Alabama, Georgia and Missouri that voted for Bush...there's your answer...not that you even had a question...
and I'm being mean, but it's the truth...
also, it's not like an Evangelical is ever going to vote for someone who is Pro-Choice....I've met many Evangelicals who vote on that one issue alone....
That's odd. I'm in a rural area, almost everyone I associate myself with is Republican, are on every single level of the socio-economic scale, and I don't know one person that felt that way.
I didn't but I understand why people voted for Bush the first time, he ran under the compassionate conservative idea and it appealed to a lot of people.
I have no idea why anyone voted for him the 2nd time, he was anything but a uniter and a "compassionate conservative" during his first term. By 2004 we were in an absolute quagmire in Iraq, his foreign policy was the worst of any president in history (though as a liberal, I must admit it is MUCH improved in his 2nd term and whoever takes the mantle next should build on that and not tear it down just because it was the previous presidents policy like Bush did Clinton in 01) I still think his economic policies cater to the megarich and as the new "fiscal conservatives" the Dems really need to work towards balancing the budget the next session of government.

I don't know why all this abortion debate is going on anyways. Back in the double-digit pages, I said that Roe v. Wade is not going anywhere. It's been in place for 35 years and Republicans have been in control for all but 12 of them.
And again, most people do not actually SUPPORT abortion. They support the CHOICE.
Ever hear a description of partial-birth abortion?
