Damn, George H.W. Bush has had one hell of a life. What hasn't the guy done? I always thought he was a much better Prez than Ronnie.

Bush has good educational credentials. Does that reflect his intelligence?

Honestly, I am still a little confused by this pick. She may surprise us. I only have two BS degrees from SIUE, so I wouldn't be considered an academic heavyweight, but I like to think I am fairly intelligent. (Not that many people on here would think so.)jim wrote:We can probably both agree that McCain (Naval Academy) and Obama(Columbia/Harvard) are beyond critique, but how about Palin (Hawaii Pacific/North Idaho/U of Idaha with only one BS in Communications to show for it)?wart57 wrote:I would like my president to me the smartest person in the room. I know someone who's around the president now and then (this person has a ridiculous education and professional background), and according to him Bush does come off as the smartest guy in the room when there's a closed door. He was laughing as he said this and said it was pretty shocking. For whatever that's worth.

Education only means so much, what did Bush 43 do after he graduated? Ran oil daddy gave him (badly)? "Owned the Rangers" (they just put him in that ownership group with his dad's connections to get a new ballpark) Elected governor in a state where the governor has the least power of about any state in the union.jim wrote:How important is educational background for your president? I got all this from a history channel special I seen a while back so take it for what its worth.

Bush is no dummy.
I'm just asking the question if you have come to expect a strong educational background from your candidate, and if so how does Palin's background sit with you?

Same undergraduate major as me...and I am well aware that it was the easiest way out of my school, short of dropping out.jim wrote:How important is educational background for your president? Is it an issue, or should it be? How does Palin's sit with you? Are you ok with it?

I think one representative in the US house actually identifies as Athiest, you know some are probably lying about their faith. If I were to ever go into politics I sure would BS it, its almost impossible to get elected otherwise.InvincibleCakeEater wrote:The smartest person in the room would rarely be a president. When it comes to intelligence, the cream of the crop are usually alienating in almost all aspects of life and tend to disagree with Christianity. That's not good when over 70% of Americans consider themselves Christians.wart57 wrote:I would like my president to me the smartest person in the room.
