So far the RNC is about as exciting as a Royals game in September.

I know you weren't. I was just pointing out how miserably I failed at lightening the mood since things took a turn for the worse. Okay, one more try.haltz wrote:I wasn't taking your comment seriously. I just felt like passing along an anecdote that I guess is more amusing to hear in person.BW23 wrote:I was just trying to lighten the mood with the Bush comment.haltz wrote:I know someone who's around the president now and then (this person has a ridiculous education and professional background), and according to him Bush does come off as the smartest guy in the room when there's a closed door. He was laughing as he said this and said it was pretty shocking. For whatever that's worth.
It obviously didn't work.
I'm pretty concerned with how much power disgusting organizations like the FRC seem to have here. I haven't really looked into it, but I get that feeling with this whole Palin thing, like Pop or someone mentioned a bunch of pages ago. Having only two legit parties blows.
Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to be a woman. I have a full-length mirror in my bathroom, and before I get dressed, I'll tuck myself....between my legs, just to see. It's uncomfortable.
Sorry, but "The Office" on Tuesdays is a good thing, even with the RNC on.

Just when I think this thread can't take another bizarre curve, it does.BW23 wrote:Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to be a woman. I have a full-length mirror in my bathroom, and before I get dressed, I'll tuck myself....between my legs, just to see. It's uncomfortable.

Harry S. Truman never got a college degree,he did pretty well as President. Education is a great thing and can allow you to do great things with your life, that being said,I've met some people through work with A LOT of education that make me wonder how they manage to dress themselves in the morning.jim wrote:How important is educational background for your president? Is it an issue, or should it be? How does Palin's sit with you? Are you ok with it?

TBS. One of the better episodes is on. Well, it's almost over, but I'm a bit behind on TiVo.docellis wrote:Just when I think this thread can't take another bizarre curve, it does.BW23 wrote:Sometimes I imagine what it would be like to be a woman. Jan says anything that doesn't scare us isn't worth doing. I don't know, maybe we're different people. I like cuddling and spooning, and she likes videotaping us having sex.
And then watching it back right afterward to improve my form.
It's not that bad. The worst part is when she shows it back to her therapist and discusses it.

In fairness to Palin, I'll go out on a limb and guess Hawaii Pacific has a higher dropout rate than Harvard or even the Naval Academy. I've heard plenty of stories about kids going to colleges near beaches for a year and not more than a year.jim wrote:Palin's educational background:
1982 - Hawaii Pacific College - no degree.
1983 - North Idaho College - no degree.
1987 - Univ. of Idaho - 3rd times a charm. B.S. in Communications
My guess just based on the name was North Idaho College doesn't offer anything more than two-year degrees (and this page and its Wikipedia entry confirm that). It's pretty common for students to take classes at community colleges to get credit for intro level classes at a much lower cost, then go off to the big four-year state college where those credits are recognized fully.
