Nothing, but he was comparing it to the whole POW thing and who is a better "American."
Who is the better American?
I think anyone who served in war is a better "American" than those who didn't. That doesn't mean I think they would make a better president.
I'm just gonna leave that one alone.
Go ahead. Try to argue the opposite. You will never convince me no matter what you say.
Absolutly 100% agree with you
I will disagree with you. I work with several Iraq Vets and I am definitely a better American than some of them.
Well I fully appreciate what every soldier does by serving this country so my big wussy ass doesn't have to..

I know I'd be a complete wuss about joining the service, which is why I have the opinion I do..

Not saying you have to share it
I agree with everything you just said.

That still doesn't make them better "Americans".

That's why I'm going to leave it alone. I guess I don't see how someone who serves in war is any more American than my police officer grandfather, my cousin who is a county commissioner, Lee Greenwood or anyone else in America.
Lee Greenwood...are you serious?

I guess I'm talking about those who put their lives on the line (and on hold) to go overseas to get shot at, and to shot at others. To me, that makes them better Americans than I am. Like my Great Grandpa in WW I, my Grandpa in WW II, my Dad in Vietnam, and my cousin in Iraq. Call me crazy I guess.

That's fine..

I still think it does..

It's her first major speech. It's not at all uncommon to introduce family members, especially in the case of a newcomer. Obama brought his kids on stage.
ghost, you're rich in objectivity. I like it.

I think she's doing just fine. More importantly, she's doing what I hoped she would do - introduce herself to America and set the tone for her role in the campaign. She's not the attack dog. She's the relater, the touchy-feely side of america. The girl-next-door who went into politics to help her family, her community, and reform corruption.

Sure, that's rhetoric, but it's going to sell, and it has legs.

You may want to hear something about the issues, but what you just said at the top of that small paragraph is what she's doing to a lot of people right now

Don't take the dumbing down of society too lightly

After Michelle Obama made a substantive speech. By the way, she's not a potential first lady, she's the the VP candidate. I'm hearing clement's warning about the dumbing down of the Republican party. I would drink a beer with her, though.

I don't see anything dumb about it so far. She's getting more substance in as she goes.
