In August 1968, a program of severe torture began on McCain.[42] He was subjected to rope bindings and repeated beatings every two hours, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery.[31][42] Further injuries led to the beginning of a suicide attempt, which was stopped by guards.[31] After four days, McCain made an anti-American propaganda "confession".[31] He has always felt that his statement was dishonorable, but as he would later write, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine."[43][44] His injuries left him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head.[45] He subsequently received two to three beatings per week because of his continued refusal to sign additional statements.[46] Other American POWs were similarly tortured and maltreated in order to extract "confessions" and propaganda statements.[47]

I admit it, I was mostly disappointed.
Am I too simplistic in breaking it down as follows?
Democrats: "here's our plan for making things better..."
Republicans: "...and democrats SUCK because..."
What is the GOP platform besides drilling in ANWR
and hating the rest of us?
The "because..." is a big part of the platform, from what i can gather.

McCain will bring that. That's the one thing he can do well, articulating policy.
And if he doesn't, then you'll hear me complain bitterly about it. He has to do it. The other guys have to try and bring down the Obama stronghold for him, so he can remain a bipartisan maverick.

She seems like a pitbull...which can be good...but most people don't like to get too close to pitbulls. Her next few months should be interesting.
I think she's got a tough line to walk, trying to be both hockey mom and attack dog.
I agree...I was hoping to get more specifics from her tonight, since I really don't know her. What I got was an introduction, a hint of what she wants, and a lot of attacks (similar to rudy and the dems).
Things I liked:
Special Needs Support
Nuclear Power
Things I didn't like:
Drilling in ANWR
Attacks on Dems (but hey...either I'm biased or just sick of it all)

Nuclear power is always a good topic for me...but something tells me the Republicans won't get it done. It kinda makes me wonder who's going to profit from ANWR...and how much more pollution is it going to create?
I'd love to have a new Nuclear power plant in each state.
I don't get it. Nobody seems to want to pick that up and run with it. Republicans are about oil, and Democrats are all about everything else but nuclear.
EDIT - I guess you're saying she mentioned that. I must've missed it.
I'm not so fond of the disdain for the Constitution, the environment and non Christian viewpoints. I'm really tired of my patriotism being questioned by conservatives.
Not that this whole discussion hasn't been serious...but I have a serious question..
Is anyone else a little worried that one of these two men will be the president of our nation come January?
Frankly, I don't particular think either one of them are fit to be president...
And I'm sure I'll get railed from both sides by that comment...but the more and more I think about this election, the more I really hate the candidates in general
