I watched because I want to know something about her and in general, I find politics (while the bastard son of Hitler and Satan) is worth following regardless of party lines. I didn't watch the DNC to become inspired, nor have I watched the RNC to become more cynical.RxOfCowbell wrote:

I was so disappointed to see him run again. It was the perfect opportunity for Lisa Madigan to take over.AJ wrote:I can't wait to vote Blago out of office, either in the primary or general.TimeForGuinness wrote:I try to stay objective and listen to both sides before I vote. I shook my head and spited my dad for refusing to watch the DNC, despite how historic it was. He said "Historic for who? Not for me."RxOfCowbell wrote:More power to you. This nomination of Palin was absolutely historic and I wanted to see it. I didn't laugh once at her. I thought she was entirely off base and ignorant, but I wanted to know what she brought to the table. I wanted to know not only what Democrats were going to be up against in November, but more about the person that could be the 2nd most powerful Government figure in America come January. Now I know.

One of my biggest issues with her speech was the timing and the crowd reactions. She wasn't being interrupted by an over-enthusiastic crowd, she would pause and wait and then the crowd would react as though the pause was their cue. Not naturally flowing at all.AJ wrote:It was a good speech, well delivered and timed to a good crowd reaction.

Oh, I have no doubt that the convention swayed a lot of momentum into Obama's column. But I still stand by the fact that a lot of people were absolutely turned off due to the fact that Palin is as far right as it comes. And now that people know, it's hurting McCain ALREADY.clement wrote:PujolJ: it's true what you said about the movement of independents but it's impossible to dissect what is the cause. It could have more to do with Obama's speech and the post-convention 'bounce', and little if anything to do with Palin. What is true, I believe, is that the Republicans thought they had scored a coup in the announcement of Palin. The story was such a surprise that the news coverage immediately went blank on Obama's very highly touted speech and all talk and attention was on Palin. That must have been a good thing, except they didn't anticipate all of the questions that would come out. It worked in their favor for about 24 hours and then all that attention began to work against them.
I still think Palin was a horrible choice and it will hurt the McCain ticket a lot more than it helps, but that's just my opinion and whether or not that happens remains to be seen.
