Reading this thread reminds me of a private club that attacks anyone who does not believe what they believe and will find any little thing to launch another attack. I doubt any mind, which is already made up, will be changed by anything written here or spoken about in speeches at a convention. I just hope we have a fair election with record turn out, so that whoever wins and whoever loses knows what the people of America really want.
I don't think JL/RC was attacking anyone.
I also thought she seemed a little uncomfortable in the beginning. I said it earlier, but she seemed strangely ticked off at times. I've seen a lot worse though, and she really did pick up steam as she went.

And it looked even worse- the first part of her speech- in comparison to Rudy Guiliani, who was all fire and brimstone and whipped a bunch of 70 year old white people into a frenzy. That's no small feat.

It's funny. I didn't get to watch too much of it last night, but I felt the way you did....only my feelings were last Thursday when people were fawning over a speech that mostly made me sick to listen to.
Just depends on the side of the aisle you're on. And for the most part, these things are just rally cries for said aisle.
Without getting into the quality of what she actually said- since, just to clarify, that's not really what I meant about the dog/piano thing- I just thought it was a very poorly-delivered speech, at least for the first half. She was wooden. Her face barely moved. At one point, I thought she looked like a ventriloquist's dummy. So what I'm driving at.... the wooden delivery + her lack of experience on the national stage = dog playing the piano.
She definitely hit her stride in the 2nd half of the speech. That part of it had me worried about how she'd do with Biden in the VP debate.
Got'cha.
Hopefully I can go back and watch it at home after work tonight.

What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet?
They all need to be smacked around a little bit, and hopefully Obama listens to this, as alot of Americans are thinking the same thing.
I on the other hand am distressed at the total conservative, or should I say Republican, disregard for the health of the planet.
I'm an environmental nut myself. Big picture wise, I don't see either of these candidates generally caring for the environment. Obama seems to care more about his pretty smile and words, and McCain for his check book.
I thought Palin delivered the speech well, but I went to high school with people who could do that. Her snarkyness was over the top, in my opinion........ I thought it was really third-gradish for the Repub. party to spend the night spewing out one-liners and laughing at Obama. The difference between what we heard from the Republicans and Democrats is pretty straight-forward to me:
The Democrats spent the week trying to unite and find middle-ground.
The Republicans couldn't have been more divisive than they were last night.
