Of course you can't do that until she's willing to be asked. When Rev. Wright's speech got played over and over and over and over and then over and over and over again, he had to answer over and over and over and over, and over and over and over again, what his opinions were on the issues that Rev. Wright raised. He even felt the need to give a whole speech about the issue. But of course in Palin's case, if people start questioning these things it will be framed as a sexist, unfair treatment of her on the part of the media and her opponents.

Bad news for Obama. USA Today has McCain up 50-46 and leading 54-44 among likely voters.

Candidates always get a short lived bounce after their convention.

Yeah, but that's a pretty big bounce. I'm nervous.Michael wrote:Candidates always get a short lived bounce after their convention.

Obama was up 8. McCain is up 3. It happens. It's a convention bounce. I'm not freaking out. National polls aren't the issue, state polling is.
McCain has to win all Bush states, including Indiana, Colorado, Florida, Virginia and Ohio.
Obama has to win all Kerry states + Iowa, New Mexico. That's 264 electoral votes. Then ONE of the above mentioned states. ONE. Or Nevada + Montana or North Dakota.
Nobody will really know where the National race stands until around Thursday. Convention bounces are what they are. It won't last.

Plus that USA Today/Gallup has been one of the more conservative leaning polls out there. Back in the last week of July, that poll had McCain leading 49 to 45.

They polled 1,022 voters. 63 of them weren't registered, which is where they get the 54-44 figure. It's an EXTREMELY small sample size and there's no telling how many of those 63 are Republicans and how many are Democrats.GatewaySnayke wrote:Bad news for Obama. USAToday/Gallup has a -2 house effect, favoring Republicans. Not only that, but here's a story you aren't seeing because of the failure that is the MSM.

Also, voter registration and party ID. Another thing you definitely aren't hearing.Yesterday, thankfully there was a diary on the rec list about 600,000 votes in Ohio, I am happy and glad that diary got some damn attention, far too many like it drop like rocks. EVERYTIME.
I saw this over at Huffington Post.
"Kansas, Michigan and Louisiana are purging their voter lists.
Colorado dumped ONE FIFTH of all voter registrations -- the largest in history
Florida is refusing to accept 85,000 new registrants -- overwhelmingly blacks.
New Mexico: purged half of the democrats in Mora county (Hispanics) and 600.000 mailers were returned
Ohio & Nevada are scrubbing tens of 1000s of voters who lost their homes to foreclosures
(Kerry lost by a mere 10-votes per district in Ohio)
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/6/ ... 176/588661The registration trends are in. If McCain is counting on a base turnout strategy, these numbers tell the story of why that will just not work. In contrast these numbers are good news for Obama and a demonstration of why the GOTV efforts that Obama is laying the foundation for will have such an important role. The dems are killing in a number of key states and if they can get these voters to the polls he will have an advantage.
There's the numbers. And they favor the Dems. Big time.
