Too late. I haven't seen a flame war this bad since Cards Talk in 2003 when a Cub troll called DK a pothead.

You're right. I'm sorry. He's a crazy, scary, dangerous, radical black guy. The other guy is just a wee bit controversial Alaskan preacher who says hilariously out of context things that are distorted by those silly liberals and have no real bearing on anything.

All I did was post the link to the court record. If you can't honestly have a conversation without acting like a child and saying R U SERIOUS and LOL OMG WTF BBQ after every sentence, then why even bother?
LEt me ask both of you guys, since you seem to be getting along so well  if you really think 1) Obama believes God should damn America and 2) Palin really believes if you voted for Kerry in 04 you're banished to hell or God will damn you if you voted for Kerry in 04?

If you answer these differently (ie, no to one and yes to the other) then you're being hypocritical, imho. Getting on the same page here would at least be a starting point and steer what is a pointless bicker fest in a somewhat positive direction.

I think it's safe to say you'll probably never agree on who to vote for, but you can at least state your differences and opinions in a way that makes sense and can be respected by the other.

The big difference is that Obama was severely raked over the coals for religious issues, and Palin hasn't been touched. If they're both "guilty", then condemn them both in the media. If neither of them are guilty, then don't condemn either of them. The double-standard isn't fair.

How much of it is a double standard and how much of it is "been there, done that?" Obama may have been raked over the coals because everyone thought Wright was the only psychotic pastor (at least since Jerry Falwell died), and that Obama agreed with him. When we finally figured out he didn't, the issue was dropped (except by the wingnuts). Now it's "oh, another crazy preacher."

The other question is, is it a double standard or is the media finally focusing on the real issues like everyone wanted in the first place?

PujolJunkie wrote:Yeah, you're right. You're FAR too sophisticated and completely over me or anyone else on this forum by trying to have a conversation with those who disagree with your opinions. Psh. Us silly liberals. Trying to communicate and have a debate or a conversation with you. I'm so sorry for being so ridiculous! I'll try harder to be more smarter.
I do have conversations. I don't rush on here with flames, picking up nonsense from far left blogs or other far left sources to just slam one side. I also don't come across angry at anyone...the media, the opposing side (Obama, in my case) or those that differ from my views. I think that those, including yourself, that get so worked up on this is kinda funny. I don't take anything said here very seriously. Some of it saddens me, but none of it gets me worked up. Nothing said here is going to affect the vote in November.

PujolJunkie wrote:Yeah. You're right. And he didn't cover all of this and answer all of these questions in the race speech he gave shortly afterward. I guess when he said that Wright's views didn't represent his own, that he was just being a lying, dodging liberal. He wasn't being sincere. That was just covering his ass. I love the optimism when it comes to Conservatives about their own people, but when it comes to Liberals, they're lying to save their face. It must be the moral aspect of it all. Liberals have no morals, dontchaknow.

I guess condemning and rejecting someone's comments don't matter.
Sure, it matters. But it has much, much, much less weight when it comes after publicly supporting the individual and then, and only then, condemning it after so much public outrage.
PujolJunkie wrote:, has Palin condemned HER pastor's remarks yet?
I'm sure you'll keep us all posted if and when she does. But I do know this. There's nothing to say she was there to hear anything that was ever said like this. She doesn't have any planned appearances with this guy like Obama did with Wright. She hasn't publicly supported and then frantically backtracked from that support. If she does all that, send me a PM and let me know. I'm anxiously awaiting.
PujolJunkie wrote:There was ABSOLUTELY no proof that Obama was in attendance when Wright was saying the things he said. Find me a single fact that says Obama was in attendance when Wright gave his racist sermons. One. Palin hasn't defended them, but she's given freaking speeches at the church. And she hasn't spoke out against them either.
Either you missed this or just hoped the rest of us did.

Interviewed on March 14 on Fox News, Obama also noted he had not been in church for Wright's controversial remarks, saying "none of these statements were ones I had heard myself personally in the pews."

But in his speech in Philadelphia about race last week, Obama described his recollections slightly differently.

"Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes," Obama said.
Oops. Sorry to lie America.

Also, Obama knew full well the absurd statements the good "reverend" was making. He distanced himself from him. And THEN he named him to the African American Religious Leadership Committee of his campaign. So he knew of the statements in question, put him on this committee of his campaign, and only after it became a public problem did he get rid of him.

Wright is who he is. And Obama sat in his church for 20 years. Unforgiveable to me.
PujolJunkie wrote:, okay! I'm so sorry for being so ridiculous. I'll try not to disrespect you by posting my opinions anymore. Feel free to reply to everyone who doesn't believe the way you do as "ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS HILARRRRRRIIIIIIOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSZZZZZZ LLOOOOOOLLLL" It makes you look so mature.
I couldn't tell if you were being serious. I guess you were.

And you just proved my point.

As for the hilarious? I asked if that was the charge where she went fishing without a license. I really have no idea. If so, who really cares? And if so, it's hilarious that you're dragging that in. If you don't think trying to make a big deal out of fishing without a license is hilarious, then we'll just agree to disagree on this one.

It's not a double standard. And I've said why it's not. It's so completely different.

In a way I wish the media would try to make an issue out of it. I think people are paying closer attention now than they were back in March. I'd love to relive "reverend" Wright's comments and Obama's support of him all over again.
