The Obama and McCain campaigns have agreed to an unusual free-flowing format for the three televised presidential debates, which begin on Friday, but the McCain camp fought for and won a much more structured approach for the questioning at the vice-presidential debate, advisers to both campaigns said Saturday.

I think Obama's people have to agree to the formats, and I think they've wisely chose not to make a big deal over Palin at this point. So if McCain's people want this, give it to them. The more structured it is, the more likely it is to be a wash for both sides. They'll both end up sticking to talking points, and it could be to Biden's benefit as well, given his big mouth.
