9 Democrats voted no, and 15 Republicans. So you have a bill that Inhofe and Feingold agreed on. Interesting times.

I don't know of many people that are for this bailout, and I know a ton of reps, at least in my area are getting serious heat. Admittedly, we're all "uninformed." :D

You can count me in with the people that strongly against this bailout. I'm not a fan of socialism, and certainly completely against welfare for failed corporations. I understand some industries may need propped up from time to time, but why these banks? There's several small and mid-sized banks around my neck of the woods that haven't closed their doors. They apparently operated within their means, so why should they have to watch the mega-banks that got greedy get bailed out?

Is there any reason I should be for this thing?

The longer it's delayed, the more it's going to affect everyone. In some cases, banks are unlikely to loan money to customers or other banks until they know it's safe to do so. It delays the overall recovery. That also potentially means layoffs and little job creation as businesses can't get loans for their needs. I don't have any idea how bad it would get or how fast, but I'd guess there could be (more) major problems if it's delayed another two weeks or a month.

And if you're a Republican, it would probably lock up an Obama presidency if that hasn't happened already.

Hmmm...now state governments are being locked out of credit markets because of the squeeze, and may turn to the federal government for loans. California may be first:

Our economy is saved . . . until the next crisis.

Our fundamentals are strong--just like the Cubs' fundamentals.

If the bill passed, why has the DOW gone from up 250 points earlier today to being down 30 now?
