I mailed this letter to the white house yesterday.

Dear Ben Berndeki and Hank Paulstein,

I'm Leroy and I could use two billion dollars. I would appreciate it if you used a small percentage of the 700 billion bailout plan to fulfill this request. I promise I will not give myself one of those lead parachutes with it, I only plan on spending the money on beer and happy pills. Maybe a prostitute sometimes, but I would do it in Nevada where it is legal and safe and the girls are pretty. Also I would like to buy doc elas a new car. All of my spending would be to save American jobs and not ship them overseas like we do now. I mean, who wants to order a prostitute from the Ukraine (by the way, do you know how long this should take on average, because I've waited for weeks for one named Nikita like that Ruskie in the Elden John video). Now, I understand that you may have some doubts about my request, but I am of sound body and mind and I am real serious about this.

I have high hopes for this, and I will go to St. Louis when I get the money and buy everyone here a beer (an American product like Anhiser Bush).

Did I hear this correctly?

Paulson said they aren't going to even bother buying the troubled assets which caused this mess in the first place. Instead, they are just going to inject capital (ie, give money) into businesses that need it? Well, at least we'll have something to show for the money then. Wait. No. No. [expletive]. This is a [expletive] handout w no strings whatsoever attached. It's a [expletive] joke is what it is.

The government uses a cash based accounting but also runs forecasts to project future financial status. I don't think that is "lying". Furthermore, most of the projected deficits are due to rapidly increasing health care costs which will make Medicare much more expensive. Of course, these costs would be highly damaging to rest of the economy including private employers who buy health plans. The real problem is the massive inefficiency of our private health care system not the government.
