Roger, I haven't been to Smokin' Daves. Just down the road is the Estes Park Brewery and that's pretty good. There's also a good place on the way up from Boulder - Oskar Blues Cajun Grill & Brewery in Lyons.

I love BBQ, I don't know how I've missed Smokin' Daves all these years. I'll have to rectify that.

And yes, Popeye, both Estes Park and Oskar Blues have logo pint glasses.

I missed those on my swing through Estes Park last fall. I hit (IIRC) 8 brewpubs on my Colorado trip, but the weekend we were in Estes Park, it was crowded beyond belief, so we didn't bother to try to find a place to park to eat/drink.

Greetings from River City Brewing Company in Wichita.

Beer: Death By Pumpkin was very good. Very smooth for a higher (7.5) abv beer. Old Town Brown Ale is a nice in-between of an English and American brown ale.

Food: The buffalo chicken pizza I'm devouring is very good.

Atmosphere: Nice setup. I like this part of town (first time I've been in downtown Wichita). Lots of middle-aged men in here.

Random rant: I wish I didn't have to drive more tonight. I'd like to enjoy a few more brews.

Random rave: I see no bearded stoner types in here (translation: no Joce). However--I [expletive] you not--they just played Katrina and the Waves.

No. Just doing some travelling for work this week, and stopping by a couple for dinner along the way.

Thanks Rad. we're camping in the national park -but will make at least a couple chow runs in Estes. Lyons may be a bit out of the way but we'll keep it in mind. The Estes Park Brewery looks good - we may try it.

I'll spoiler this BTW on Rocky Mtn Natl park to avert derailing Popeyes thread which has potential
[SHOW]
BTW - sounds like Rocky Mtn Natl is having major issues with the pine beetles killing trees. They just announced that another large campground Glacier Basin, is being taken off the reservation system since it will be limited by work on spraying and cutting trees. the Grand Lake side, it sounds like the damage has been done to a generation of trees. we saw this happening in Summit Co. the areas are still beautiful, but some of the green is gone. sad.

I went to Square One tonight, and didn't really have any beer, but the food was really pretty bad. I had a flank steak Philly - meat was incredibly dry, bread was soaked and gross. The two people I was with had burgers. One burger of the week and one pub burger. Both ordered it medium and both burgers showed up small and overcooked to the point where it looked like that first time you grill a burger when you're 10 years old and it ends up being the size of a chicken egg.

The fries were pretty good though and malt vinegar on the table is always nice.

Friendly people, a wait, and a nice looking space. Could be that I caught them on an off night or the new grill guy that made our food is getting fired as we speak. I had no idea it was also a distillery, which is pretty cool.

Northern NJ is the black hole of brew pubs... very disappointing.

I'm not sure about that, I haven't really ever heard many good things about the place.

I've usually had good experiences, for the most part. And usually the food is decent for the price. The beer is generally terrible though. If they can't handle beer, I really don't want to try their distilled spirits.

They do have a nice setup, except for having to pass through a usually very smoky bar to get to the restaurant space. It would also be nice if they had a bigger TV for sports viewing in the bar area. But bottom line, I'd go there a lot more often if their beers were remotely good.
