Bat the pitcher 8th or 9th...I don't care
Excellent Analysis. proves there is someone alive in the front officeskmsw wrote:Well, that was bound to happen -- with or without this trade. Either Wallace is called up (and there is no one else good left in our farm system), or he was traded.Leroy wrote:Our farm system sucks again.
I will say this -- as one of the more outspoken critics of the organization over the last three or four YEARS, and as one of the forum's most unhappy posters with the team's direction and decisionmaking --
It has been a damn good four weeks or so.
Taking the right guy in the amateur draft, making a very sound international acquisition, trading an over-valued prospect (minor league closer) for a versatile player with a legit bat, willingness to give up a blue-chipper BUT not just for anyone, for a legit two-way impact player, not over-reaching into the Halladay sweepstakes by including Razzle and/or Waino ---
Steverino likes. Two thumbs up on the Big Picture shown in the last month or so.
Maybe the much-ballyhooed turnaround has finally arrived, in more than just intermittent, out-of-context isolated OK decisions (like drafting and signing Wallace).

I don't know. Scott Boras loves to test the FA market. I think our best bet is arbitration.JCShutout wrote:I'm sure we'll find a way to sign Holliday with Glaus' $12 million coming off the books.
I agree...I said this somewhere in the early 20s I believe...Glaus, Ankiel, and Joel coming off the books give us more than enough to sign him and put a bench together.JCShutout wrote:I'm sure we'll find a way to sign Holliday with Glaus' $12 million coming off the books.
Yeah, you could put LOL/OMG/WTF in the 6, 7, and 8 (or 9) spots in that order and it'd still be a really cool, really solid lineup.InvincibleCakeEater wrote:I'm dreaming, but...

Greene no question. I could see us resigning Pinero for the right price. Heck we resigned him last time.dexter wrote:and pineiro's 6(?) and greene's 6. etc.JCShutout wrote:I'm sure we'll find a way to sign Holliday with Glaus' $12 million coming off the books.
