Now tell the truth - this afternoon, how many of us would have predicted a 12-7 final score in tonight's game, much less that the Cards would have the 12? I think most of us would have predicted a 3-2 game either way.

Good point. Kept them in it and gave them a chance.JS04 wrote:OK..

That's what mopup guys are supposed to do. It's actually a rather old-fashioned concept in this age of ultra-specialization, but if you've ever read Garagiola's first book (the 1960 one) he describes Wellemeyer's situation perfectly - a failed starter sent to the bullpen, hoping to get a few mopup innings and do well and perhaps earn a look-see in a more-key situation, with an eye towards possibly regaining his spot in the rotation.

Eh, more like Inning of the Year. This game on the whole wasn't that great but the last few innings were excellent. The Dodger game just kicked ass all around.cardsfansince82 wrote:WINNAH
New nominee for game of the year.
Pujols-amazsome
Ludwick, Ankiel, Skip, Lugo were good.
Regression to the Regifter for Pineiro. Blows two separate leads but we bail him out.
Lot of heart shown to come back against Santana and KRod.

That should end the questions about Albert's slump. I found the questions almost insulting myself, not being a big fan of the what have you done for me lately club.

I give him his due for holding them scoreless, but he did give up 2 walks and a hit for those 2 innings.....still has long way to go towards gaining the trust.Jmodene wrote:That's what mopup guys are supposed to do.
