And what they chose, once again, is something of a mish-mash. "The entire Fable idea is a fairytale twist on European history and myth," says McCormack. "What we've settled on is to go about 50 years on from Fable II. So we've loosely chosen the Napoleonic period, and we've started to pull in a bit of Regency, a tiny bit of Victorian, and we're plugging in an early industrial age to Albion. It's a Napoleonic fairytale."
The game will see you become the ruler of Albion, deciding whether to be a kind king or a tyrant, and whether to keep the promises you made on your way to top. Your decisions and judgements will affect the shape of Albion and its society.
You'll be a hero ruler, and still an adventurer, "like a captain in Star Trek", said Molyneux. The game won't be an RTS, he promised. You'll also be able to travel to lands beyond Albion's borders for the first time.

Actually, that's what I love about Fable, as opposed to a game like fallout. The scope never feels overwhelming.
I didn't play the sequel, but Fable was anything but. There were quite a few little sidequests you could do, but it was very good about keeping you on the main track if you so chose, which could be finished in like 4 hours easily.
Love'em both, but I gotta give the nod to Fallout. I'm up in the air about buying anymore DLC because the GOTY edition coming out in the fall is supposed to have it all included. They took people for an extra $50 in DLC alone.

Fallout is definitely my pick over Fable. Fable was really awesome and kept me interested but there was just something about it that lost it's appeal after the first go around. Fallout, I still haven't even finished yet and I'm definitely going back and playing again once I have.
However, I will say all of the DLC is really aggravating. There's a lot of extra stuff there and it's worth as much as just buying a new game. This is why I love Left 4 Dead. Any DLC they come out with is 100% free.

Yeah, I haven't finished the main story and will probably hit Level 30 tonight and my character's basically maxed. Dropping another $40 on some DLC that I'll tear through...not so sure about that. I'd rather have the hard disc I can flip if I care to.

Yep. Broken Steel was supposed to be 5 hours of play time. I owned that quest in like 2 hours. Once I figured out you could stack up VATS commands that game went 3 times as fast.
