I'll be honest...I'm about as excited as when the 2005 season started.

Yep, regardless of what they do between now and Opening Day, I'm jazzed going into the season.

Well that makes sense then.clevername wrote:he was also apparently the one who introduced him to the leg kick years ago to begin with. They apparently have a pretty long relationship.JCShutout wrote:I'm not sure there is much left to say to get it to 200 pages.I was a little shocked to read that Holliday liked having McGwire as a hitting coach. IIRC, wasn't Big Mac the one who told Matt to get rid of his leg kick (which led to his half season slump)?Michael wrote:I suspect McGuire will take Holliday off the roids now that he's got his big contract.
I'm excited for the season, but I just wish we had another $10 million in payroll space for a 5th sp, a good rp, and a 3b platoon partner for Freese.

IIRC the short story to the leg kick is: Holliday was having trouble timing pitches, Mac suggested a leg kick to help with timing, Holliday becomes super awesome. After few years of leg kick, it's suggested that Holliday may no longer need leg kick for timing, and removing it would help him with increased power. Holliday attempts to remove leg kick, fails miserably, goes back to leg kick.

Ok, I was trying to remember. If its just a timing thing then that makes a lot of sense. I don't think Holliday will lose power for awhile. I think he's a .500 slg threat for atleast the next 5 years.TheoSqua wrote:IIRC the short story to the leg kick is: Holliday was having trouble timing pitches, Mac suggested a leg kick to help with timing, Holliday becomes super awesome. At that point, $17MM might get you a utility infielder at Scott Boras pricing.JCShutout wrote:Ok, I was trying to remember. If its just a timing thing then that makes a lot of sense.
