I read that the design of the Burj in the upper levels is next to useless. Essentially, the floorspace up there is too small for real office space so much of the upper portion is just used for storage.

the whole issue of the freedom tower is just plain sad. everything about it..Michael wrote:they might as well put a bulls-eye on the side of it.omaha_red wrote:heh.. the freedom tower..
especially the fact that it doesn't even exist.. i remember on sept. 12th 2001
america was ready to build that thing immediatly.. and almost 10 years later
it's still just a big hole.

Re: The Wonders of Dubai
Having just driven a few blocks from the Sears Tower again yesterday, I'm blown away that this thing is like a whole Arch again taller. Awesome. I read that CNN headline article too, and I agree that it's kind of silly to have to pump water a fifth of a mile into the air just to flush.
I wonder if they have some kind of plumbing system that keeps a giant tank like halfway up or something wacky like that. Probably not.
I still think that hotel out on the water with the helipad way up high, that Tiger shot golf balls off, is way cooler.

If I had to guess, I would imagine a series of pumps gets water to the uppermost floors and at intervals there are 'water towers' that feed a gravity system and depressurize the pipes.
Though, I'm largely out of my element here.

They pay people to carry water up by the bucket.

That's a weird record since base jumping is more dangerous the lower the structure (well, unless you count me jumping off my porch as BASE jumping). I think.TimeForGuinness wrote:Fantastic Video if you get the chance.

I have no idea what any of this means, but here is how they handle the water problem.
