Yet Another Driving Rant

Don't freakin' turn right in front of me and DRIVE SLOWER THAN ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
And it's ridiculous that I have to wait for a left arrow with absolutely no oncoming traffic.

Before my insurance agency would cover me under a plan, I had to meet with our agent and have a discussion about the Rules of the Road. This is probably going back like seven years now (I must've been 16), but I'll never forget what she told me: when you're turning and merging with traffic, there's a golden rule to follow - do not interrupt the flow of traffic! And yet so often, people cut out in front of you and cause you to greatly alter your speed to accommodate them. Ugh.

The merge lane from Forest Park Parkway to 170 North is really short - on google maps it looks to be about 25 feet. 90% of the time the traffic is either bumper-to-bumper where you get onto the highway at 10 miles per hour and merging is easy, or traffic is light and there's enough time to either slow down / speed up to merge into the lane without disrupting traffic.

Every once in a while though i'll hit that lane going 60mph and have a row of cars that won't let me merge in, or sometimes i'll have cars speed up so that I can't merge in front of them. So I either have to gun it to get in front of them, hit my brakes to slow down enough to get behind them (which slows my speed down and would force the car behind them to slow down to let me in), drive off road, or come to a complete stop on a merge-lane onto the highway and then try to go from 0-60 on a highway (i've never done this, but have seen people do it...), all this because one guy thinks it's a insult to his personal pride to allow someone doing the speed limit to merge into the slow lane on a highway.

I know the rule is that people in that lane have the right-away and you have to yield into the lane. But seriously, I have 20 feet to get into that lane the least you can do is not go out of your way to make it harder for me to merge into the lane. The bulk of people are smart enough to not even be in that lane when it hits the merge lane, or are nice enough to leave enough gap between them and the other cars in the lane that it's easy to merge into the lane. the left lane is the passing lane!!!! pass and get the heck OVER

It doesn't matter if it's the highway or the city. This pisses me off to no end on my way home. I take a 2 lane road similar to Lindbergh to get home, but with no turn lane. The limit is 35. Inevitable two old people or soccer mom's will get side by side and do 36 the whole way.

Sometimes I break down crying on the way home.

There's all sorts of traffic by my office cause they've cut out the busiest part of the highway loop around the city (Much like the Highway 40 shut down in STL). They have solid white lines painted to control the flow of traffic. People ignore them to no end and jog in and out of lanes all day when the road becomes narrower because they want to go 2 MPH faster than the person in front of them.

And people need to learn how to use speed control.

The only people I absolutely REFUSE to let merge in front of me are the douches who know that up ahead the left/right/whatever lane is closed; yet they will drive in that lane until it ends and expect those of us who have patiently waited in traffic to let them merge in. FU!!!!!!
