He is but he makes some damn good beer. I saw him at a beer event here. He was wasted off his face, dancing around like a frat boy at a Jimmy Buffet concert with a sweatshirt tied around his waist. Not what I expected from the guy who makes Palo Santo.

This season of Deadliest Catch has been the best that reality television has ever had to offer. Powerful stuff.

It really has been the redemption of the reality genre. Proof of why it works and how nothing that is scripted can ever be as compelling as something that is real but done well. The Captain Phil hospitalization, death and follow up is some of the best TV you'll ever see, period. Unbelievably powerful.

I'm not ashamed to admit I have cried like a baby numerous times this season.

Throw in the drama w/Jake Anderson's dad and it's all the more compelling. How can you not root for that kid? I'd love to hangout with those dudes.

Favorite: Edgar Hansen

Least Favorite: Mike from the Time Bandit (future captain???). He's just such a [expletive] dork.

++ to all the Deadliest Catch talk. Very compelling television this season.

Anyone notice that they seem to be talking about money a lot more this season? The captains are absolutely loaded. It just came up in passing conversation that Jake Harris earns something like $90,000-$100,000 dollars a year and he's just a deckhand who's what, 25 years old? Crazy.

It goes a long way to explaining why they all have substance abuse problems. Greuling, lonely work followed by long periods of well-funded free time = constant party.
