This is the way I look at it:

We traded Ludwick for a non-prospect and Jake Westbrook. Ludwick is better than Westbrook, and also has an extra year of team control.

I guess you can argue that we traded from our "surplus" of outfielders to fill a need in the rotation, but from a pure value standpoint, we definitely lost this trade.
Luddy was probably going to cost too much for them in 2011. Still, a weird deal.

so the Pads give up 2 crap prospects and get Ludwick
the Indians give up Westbrook for a crap prospect
and we give up Ludwick for Westbrook and a crap prospect

again i ask, why didnt we just trade a crap prospect for Westbrook?

or Ludwick for more than just Westbrook?

blah

Completely agree. we could've only given up a Kluber-like prospect for Westbrrok.

Compare that to the other pitcher deals out there.

La Russa has been wanting to deal Ludwick since 2008. He finally got his way.

'10 Cardinals may be the canonical example of Sheehan's Trade Deadline Axiom: no matter what teams need, they all think they need pitching.
LOL

Mo needs to get a M.I. so I wont cry..

You guys worry too much. Jon Jay's .446 BABIP is completely sustainable.

Maybe he was, but there's still value to that control for another team then, right? This was the best we can do? I hate to sound Cards Talk-ish here, but this is pathetic.

Well i guess the one benefit is that there is more money that can go to Albert's salary. And getting an mid level OF free agent in the offseason tends to come cheap in terms of $$. All I know is that Colby is on notice...he needs to be a solid #5 hitter now.

There has to be a Nicholas Greenwood-Montana Fishburne porn tape being thrown in on this deal.
