If that's really what they'd do with the money, it becomes infinitely more palatable.
That shouldn't even be a factor.

Why shouldn't it?

I thought the money to sign draft picks was set aside separately from the money for free agents/trades.

The Cardinals have to make moves that impact their major league roster and budget to sign draft picks? Those shouldn't even be the same budgets and I feel sorry for anyone that believes that the Cardinals are anywhere near operating in the red. We should just decline to participate in the draft or pick Pete Kozmas from here on.

Holy cow, "feel sorry for?" Drop hyperboles much?

I clearly said the comment in jest, but it's definitely plausible.

How does your household budget work?

It's the same guy paying the bills, whether it's for a draft pick or a MLB player.

I seriously hope a major league team's budget is handled differently than a household budget.

If the goal of this trade was "financial relief", then Mo succeeded magnificently.

If the goal of this trade was to win the World Series, then he's failed. Miserably.

And I took your comment in jest. I'll edit the "feel sorry for" if it makes you feel better, but socnorb wants to argue that the Cardinals need to find money to pay draft picks. They don't.

Bottom line is that all of the money is coming from the same source. So I'm not sure what you mean.
