If La Russa didn't know what he had in Jay after his time in the minors and big-league spring training, shame on the manager. Of course, La Russa also didn't start Jay in the first two games after the all-star break. It's more likely he's fooled by this incredible hot streak and never cared much for Ludwick.

Winn and Jay were arguably quite similar players and most here wanted to give the benefit to Winn at the time. He got send down because of Winn, not because of Stavy, etc. Not that you're suggesting otherwise, just clarifying my thoughts. Can't say I agreed with that, but many did.

I was fine with it at the time, but now the Cardinals seem to think Jay is good enough to play corner OF in a pennant race on a team with no offense at 2B, SS or C. That's quite a shift in opinion in about six weeks.

I still think this was more about Craig than Jay, but I seem to be alone in that.

And you're right, we have offensive problems that Jay or Craig don't fix. Neither do Westbrook... and actually, Westbrook could create more MI problems with all those GB's he gets.

Do you really think Pujols and Rasmus will be struggling like this for the next 2 months
Wasn't this similarly said about this offense two months ago?

Why can't Rasmus, Pujols and Holliday sync up? That's another reason why I'm bummed about losing Luddy, it just seemed like the more streaky hitters we have the better the odds of *someone* coming through. That and what clevername said, I just liked the guy.

From a sentimental standpoint this sucks. From a value standpoint.. this sucks.

I don't have time to read the thread, but I don't get this at all. A 125 OPS+ outfielder with good defense for a 5.00 ERA pitcher. [expletive] Mozeliak.

I'm going to be quite pissed if he was had for nothing. My guess is that SF just got Dunn though.

As of 5 minutes ago, Sanchez is still a Giant. We'll see.
