Sounds like the expectations will be met.
You have to judge everything on it's merits, but on the face of it another mobster story excites me about as much as another vampire story. I felt the Sopranos had a fairly novel angle, both in being about modern second-tier mobsters and getting into some of the more mundane aspects. Going over Capone (et al) again, I don't know.

Having said that, I also avoided The Wire for two seasons thinking it looked like yet another cop show. On that note, nice to see that Omar has a prominent role on Boardwalk.

So I've recently watched all of Parks and Recreation and season one of Modern Family. They're both pretty good. It took me a while to buy into Parks and Rec, because it really just feels like The Office 2 with chick Michael Scott for the first few episodes. But they sort of scaled back Amy Poehler's character a little after those episodes, and I thought the show worked a lot better after they did.

Modern Family is good, too. Probably not as funny as The Office when it's at its best, but still funny. The nice thing about it is that it actually works as a mockumentary. Seriously, The Office could probably go three weeks without confessionals before I even noticed they were gone. And everyone just hangs out at City Hall like it's Cheers on Parks and Rec. But Modern Family actually has themes for each episode, and they use the interviews to tie it together and it works pretty well.

Modern Family blows away anything The Office has ever done, IMO. It's Arrested Development quality.

Season 2 of Parks and Rec is really good. And yes, Modern Family is probably the funniest show out there right now, although Community comes close once in a while.

There are many, many shows funnier than both Modern Family and Parks & Rec.

30 Rock, Always Sunny, The League, Archer, Louie, Eastbound and Down. I'm sure more if I put my mind to it.

Always Sunny is great, but it can be real hit or miss. I haven't seen archer or Louie, but once I get my PC working I know to catch them.

You watch a lot of FX eh?

Modern Family and Community are two of my favorites right now.

I've only seen 30 Rock, Sunny, and Archer from that list, and while those have episodes that I like better than any Modern Family, I don't think they are consistently as funny.

I concur... ppl will say Sunny is hit or miss, but for every hit they get, you end up with absolute gold

I was talking more about "clean" network shows. 30 Rock is actually probably better than Modern Family. Archer might be the funniest thing on TV though.
