I'm watching Dexter episodes as I get them in the mail and waiting for the new Walking Dead episode.

All awesome shows.

Only big complaint I have with the Walking Dead so far is the stock ***hole characters. I'd much rather see somebody mostly decent feel like they have no choice but to be a hardass. But they went right to the white supremacist hick who doesn't give a [expletive] about anyone else. It's a standard dramatic device in this kind of story but it's just lame. I remember one of Romero's zombie flicks from the 90s had a similar character who wore a tux the whole movie, and just wouldn't shut up and I wanted to kill him. This white supremacist character reminded me of him. (And of course he has a hothead brother back at the camp, judging by the previews). Sawyer on Lost was a more interesting version of the same kind of character.

Rick's former partner is pretty one dimensional so far too. Obviously we're not supposed to like him.

I love it so far, but I think it'll really get cooking once they get past a bunch of the zombie/end of the world cliches.

Oh, you did NOT just badmouth Michael Rooker, a.k.a. Naked Karate Mallrats Guy.

One thing that I don't understand about The Walking Dead is the amount of time that has passed. When they were in the police station it was mentioned that the gas had been out for a month. That means that this couldn't have started much longer before that.

He was in a coma with no one to care for him for at least a month? IV drips last a few hours, don't they? How did he survive in that coma?
[SHOW]
The other thing that I hate is the wife with his friend. I understand the whole "I'm going to protect you in memory of my friend" deal, but that doesn't give free reign to bone her in the middle of the woods. The guys been gone maybe a little over a month and you move in on his wife. Both of them are extremely unlikable characters.

I didn't put it together, but my wife feels pretty certain it was going on beforehand based on the car conversation in episode 1.

I'm not saying I don't think that's the case, because I don't know. I'm just saying if I was a survivor of a zombie apocalypse, I'd take every opportunity to bang around in the woods I could. You're all gonna die, you might as well get laid.

I typed out the same thing, but didn't post it for fear of offending people with the notion that "I'd [expletive] all of your wives and moms and sisters if they were over 18 and it was a zombie apocalypse".

"cop car conversation" that he was a douche

I'm trying to come up with an appropriate response to this that won't make me sound like I'm into underage girls.

I took the high road there but let's just say I had the same dilemma.
