AMC is keeping its perfect pilot-to-series record intact with a series order to Hell on Wheels, the 1860s drama pilot from Entertainment One and Endemol USA. The order is said to be for 10 episodes, including the pilot.

Speculation about a pending series order for Hell of Wheels started shortly after AMC canceled drama Rubicon after one season as the pilot had just been screened to warm reception by the network brass, and the cancellation opened a spot on AMC's full dance card.

Set in post-Civil War America, Hell on Wheels centers on former confederate soldier Cullen Bohannan (Anson Mount) whose quest for vengeance has led him westward to work on the construction of the first Transcontinental Railroad. The series was created and written by Joe and Tony Gayton who will executive produce. Endemol USA’s SVP scripted programming Jeremy Gold, who originally developed the project, is also executive producing Hell on Wheels, which marks the company's first scripted series. eOne Television CEO John Morayniss and SVP creative affairs Michael Rosenberg will oversee production. "AMC's commitment to the western is long standing, and the genre is an important part of our brand and history as a channel," said AMC's SVP original programming Joel Stillerman. "This show brings some incredibly original twists and turns; and a contemporary sensibility that we think will bring a very broad audience to our newest drama series."

Hell on Wheels marks a return to the Western genre for AMC, which started its original programming efforts in the arena with the miniseries Broken Trail. It also marks the sixth pilot for AMC, all of which have now gone to series: Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Rubicon, Walking Dead, and, most recently, The Killing, which will premiere next year.

Yup. What was the point of this entire season? Dexter goes through all of this with Lumen only to have her go, "well, that was real, later Dex." The final kill of Jordan was a complete anti-climax. Why not have Deb finally discover the truth? That would have made one heck of an ending. Now we're back to square one again, Dexter staring off into space and monologuing "gee, it sure is hard to make connections with people."
[SHOW]
They sorta set up Deb being ok with te vigilante so at least it wasn't out of the blue But it was [expletive] stupid. Next season is not going to be the last so it should be more of the same crap.

It was a huge anti climatic point. It's starting to make the books sound good.

Then the Liddy thing. And getting Quinn off? Ugh. Just ugh.
[SHOW]
The whole season was a mess.

a)Poor capitalization on the Kyle Butler situation
b)Lumen leaving scapegoat
c)Quinn getting off scapegoat
d)Flipped car at Camp Jordan was stolen from nearby the Liddy crime scene.
e)Deb's too emotionally unstable not to confide in Quinn about letting those two assassins free.
f)Liddy's got to have copies of the tapes at his house, and the police will be sure to investigate the whole thing thoroughly. Dexter never had a chance to destroy that evidence.
g)Someone is going to investigate who owns Camp Jordan and the real estate office has Dexter's cell number.
h)Quinn during episode one. Hi, your girlfriend SHOT HERSELF a day ago and you don't seem to be phased or have any recollection of it

So apparently Michael C Hall left his wife for Julia Stiles. That had to make life on the set awkward.

So that's why Rolen disappeared in the 2nd half.

Hell on Wheels sounds good. I didn't get into Rubicon before it got cancelled, which is probably better for me since it sounds like I really would have liked it and been upset when it was dropped.

I don't really understand how AMC can't find space for more shows. I assume it's just budgetary reasons.

Well, they were married on New Year's Eve 2008, and last week said they filed for divorce after being separated "for some time", so I don't think you missed as much as you think.

apparently broken up by Julia Stiles.

Dexter seems to really have something for too skinny girls who sometimes in the right light look attractive but most of the time aren't quite so hot.
