Very interesting read, Steve. I'd like to suggest you use this thread to let us know when new installments are ready. I always forget to check the blogs!

I liked it, too. In fact, I put up a thread in the Social forum dedicated to knocking you off that high horse wearing a Manny Ramirez jersey. :P

9. In any well-run organization there is a need for BOTH traditional assessment of tools AND innovative application of advanced statistics, probability theory, predictive modeling techniques, and data analytics. It is NOT a question of WHETHER to use scouting information it is a question of WHAT scouting data to use, and how to fit it into a comprehensive picture. Likewise it is NOT a question of WHETHER to use advanced statistical analysis it is a question of WHICH stats tell you what you need to know, which metrics augment and lead to a more complete picture, which data is reliable and valid.
I'm glad you brought that up, and stated as you did. Too often we get into a stats vs scout argument, and there really is no argument. You need both, or at least you maximize your chances by using every tool available, and both are important tools.
