I could have sworn that I heard them say MAY move back to the closer role.

They were talking about it earlier in the game. They did a close up of him, and one of their on-field reporters said that it would be announced after the game.
Could be wrong, though.

I guess, Lester is getting closer to the rotation, so it makes more sense to move Papelbon to the closer's slot & fix their biggest problem. I think he has more value in the closer's role than as a starter for the BoSox.
