Your 2006 Cardinals were the least deserving World Series champ in recent memory. Sorry, but Detroit completely threw away that series.
Except the Cardinals did something that the 04 Red Sox, 03 Marlins, 02 Angels, etc etc didn't do when they won: the Cardinals won their division to make it into the playoffs.

Call me old-fashioned, but teams that can't even win their own division but make the playoffs are less-deserving champions than the team that beat them out over the 162 game season.....

In a way I agree with Caple. It was really ugly the way they finished the season. And the fielding/throwing problems Detroit had in the WS were shocking. It's hard to not think about putting an asterisk on this one.

But at the end of day, you are what you do. The Cards are champs, and everything else is water under the bridge.
