Mantle over everyone else by a longshot.
The man would go on a bender, be only able to swing with one arm, and still hit a homerun.
Had he taken better care of himself, there would be no question who the best hitter of all time is. I think he even made the comment that if he knew he was going to live so long, he would have taken better care of himself (a lot of his family died early from something.... i cant remember what)

How about Ben Davis. He was drafted 2nd overall in 96 or 97, not sure, anyway, he never could get the job done and he's from my town.
