I'm obviously a bit bias but I think w/ a couple more decent years Edmonds is right on the fringe. He really needs to get to 400 HR's.

not only that, but a GG in BOTH leagues and probably considered the top 3 defensive OF/CF over the past 8 years

if Gary (Fkg!) Carter got in on Dfence, JED should too

Catcher is a far different position than CF.

If Edmonds should get in, so should Bernie Williams. I'm not sure I'm prepared to make that leap.

Todd Helton is a pretty good bet

You think BW is mentioned in the same defensive league as JED?
If so, I respectfully disagree

Pujols retired? Crud. It's going to be a long season.

I agree w/ that. JED is a MUCH better CF.
Catcher is a far different position than CF.
Not sure how this relates to the conversation, sure they're different but equally important IMO.

I don't know. Edmonds' peak is right there with the very best CF's of all-time (reference Baseball Prospectus Annual, 2005). His peak (2000-2004) was better than all but 4 or 5 CF's in history, and the list of the ones that beat him included Dimaggio, Mantle, Mays, and Junior Griffey.

Edmonds' WARP3 numbers are just a hair under Bernie's (106 for Bernie to 103 for JimEd) and Edmonds is still an everyday player, whereas Bernie Williams is essentially retired.

If Edmonds gets in, so should have this guy:

295/369/564, 381 HR, 1239 RBI, 974 R. 5X all-star; 1 MVP, 3 other top five MVP finishes. He wasn't near the defensive player as Edmonds, but his numbers are better in a shorter career.

This guy should go in before Edmonds as well:
295/343/561; 434 HR; 1404 RBI; 1061 R; 3X AS; 2X MVP with 2 other top five finishes. Not a defensive player like Edmonds, but much more feared as a hitter.

Edmonds is a good ball player; he's not HOF in my book.
