I'm just hoping this isn't the start of an 8 game losing streak. Didn't we have like 3 of those last year?
On second thought, maybe that was the key to a WS win. If so, here's to more losing!

Haltz, I, like you, have no idea why Miles gets to start "just because." Tony's fascination with the imp is starting to annoy me.
So let's see...outscored 20-2 in three games, and outhit 34-18. A horrible .200 (18-for-90) batting average to start the season, and most of that is because of Sunday's 10 hits. The Cardinals batted .137 the last two nights.
And again, if the Cardinals couldn't touch two ancient pitchers like Glavine and El Duque and a merely average pitcher like John Maine, how in the world are they going to hit a soft-tossing lefty (Wandy) the second best pitcher in the NL (Oswalt) and a ground baller (Jennings)?
Ugh...

Rough first series. BP (Bull Pen... or are they Batting Practice?) needs to get it together. Wells and Loop looked good.

Other than a ridiculous scheduling of SF in the middle of the month, the rest of the Cards' opponents are from the Central. We'll know a lot about this team by the end of this month.

i been to games 2 and 3,
this team look lifeless.
just going thru the motions.
i hope it not a case of just being content on winning the world series,and this year doesn't mean anything.
or maybe too much partying during the off season

I wouldn't call John Maine average. He is good to potentially very good.
I'd call Orlando Hernandez average.

Agreed. Maine posted a 3.60 ERA last year in 15 starts with an ERA+ of 120 and a WHIP of 1.13.
Not exactly average.

Now I'm not so mad I had to work tonight instead of getting to watch the game. I only saw one play from the entire game on TV at work and it was Preston's weak attempt at that fly ball. That told me all I needed to know. Ugh.

didnt get to watch much of the game myself as I was at work, but being that I work at a casino I did get to catch it from time to time...
paid close attention to Looper and have to admit he did good... me and one of the guys I was working with kept a close look on it and both said he did a lot of what Suppan did last year but with a little more power... sure he allowed some hits, but he gave up 3 runs in 6 innings to a very powerful Mets team...
and yeah Preston lost the ball in the lights
