The Third Man wrote:Um, why would you not line up your best pitcher (Felix) with their best pitcher (Dice-K)? That's what would make no sense, had they not done it.
Did you happen to catch Weaver's line yesterday? That's why.

So he got bombed yesterday instead of today or tomorrow? I'm not sure what you're getting at here.

I'm down. I wouldn't miss watching the two best pitchers in the history of baseball go head to head. This will be epic.

What he's saying is if you think their number one is better than your number one why wouldn't you throw your number one against their number 3 (Beckett) and have a better chance to win at least one of the two games instead of throwing a crap pitcher against their number 3 and wasting your ace in a game you think you'll lose to their ace..

I'm not exactly sold on that idea but I get what he's trying to say

I'm not sure who would ever expect to lose with King Felix in the mound. Matsuzaka's first start was impressive - Felix's was even more so. And he's got better pure stuff too.

Again, not saying I agree with the theory but do you at least understand what he was trying to say now?

I'm arguing that it's smarter to have your best three pitchers, who are fully rested, go in order against one of the best offenses in the game than your #4. Perhaps there is some unwritten rule against this type of thinking that I'm missing?

I have a work meeting tonight. I probably will skip it, because I'm not missing this game.
