At this point in the season, the best chance to score runs appears to be Chris Duncan batting with the bases loaded. Unfortunately, in the 3 times he has come to bat in that situation so far this year, he's 0-3.

The hitting just isn't there right now. Right. Lefty. Hard. Soft. It doesn't matter right now. They could be facing Jason Marquis and get shut down the way things are going.

We'll find out this weekend as far as that goes.

For some reason his name always comes up.

1.) He's not really a "soft-tosser". His fastball will reach 90, which isn't much, but it's not Glavine/Moyer territory either. Very few lefties throw above the low 90's.

2.) He has a 4.81 ERA in 127.1 IP against the Cardinals in his career--only slightly better than his career 5.01 ERA. He pitched a good game or two against the Cards a couple of years ago, but he's been hammered by us in the past too.

Duncan's got two doubles and a homer against lefties thus far this season. It's early, but howsabout we play him until he shows he can't do it?

BTW, that would also be leading the team in those categories against lefties.

I miss Eduardo Perez and his eleventy-billion OPS against lefties.

to make it short, he had no business to pitch those 2-3 games the way he did in the first place...Small sample I know but you get the bigger picture, right ? :D
