Are they THAT down on him?
Ozzie sure sounds that way. He gets kicked around pretty regularly here, and doesn't get much play despite the fact that Pods is old and brittle and Erstad is hitting .220. They're pretty brutal on him.

Why hasn't it ever occurred to the White Sox to move Pods back to CF? It perplexed me all off-season.

He's not a good outfielder at all. He's fast, but takes poor routes and has a weak arm. He'd be a disaster in CF.

Toby Hall tore his labrum in the spring. He may be gone for the year. I think they feel pretty concerned about the backup situation, and Sandy Alomar Jr. is too old now.
The reason I ask is they called up a rookie named Molina (no relation). He's certainly not going to cost them much, but I also don't know anything about him.

We could let them have Falkenborg and a medium-level prospect; we clearly don't have any interest in calling Brian back up.

He plays a gold glove caliber center field and will hit better than anyone in our outfield not named Duncan or Edmonds. The latter being possible.

If he was avail., I couldn't see why the Cards wouldn't be interested in him. He would be their best defensive OF'er in their organization (better than Rasmus/and an aging Edmonds), he went thru typical rookie struggles as far as being inconsistent but was one of the better Sox hitters in mid Summer when he hit .290 for a couple of months. A little tweaking as far as shortening his swing as well as refining his pitch selection as the slider low and away will get him every time would do wonders as far as him taking that next step as a top 10 CF'er.

I'm sure we wouldn't be the only ones inquiring about his services.

I think he'd fit in nicely.
